LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has asked the foreign affairs ministry to confirm whether it can defend Pakistani citizens in foreign countries or not. On Thursday, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza heard a petition challenging the US’ act of announcing a bounty on Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed and his deputy Hafiz Abdur Rehman Makki. The judge later put off hearing till April 13. In 2012, US under-secretary of state Wendy Sherman had said in New Delhi that a head-money of $10 million and $3 million had been announced for Hafiz Saeed and Hafiz Makki, respectively. The counsel contended the bounty should be withdrawn and the petitioners as citizens of Pakistan be protected.
