ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) has introduced mechanised marble and granite quarrying aimed at maximising stones production and reducing wastage, PASDEC, CEO Zahid Maqsood Sheikh said on Tuesday. Briefing Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Minister for Minerals Development and Labour Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, he said the company has significant technical expertise and possesses modern machinery for establishing and upgradation of marble and granite quarries as per international standards. He highlighted the significant role and efforts of the company in development of the marble sector across Pakistan. Tahirkheli informed that the company has established more than five quarry projects in K-P and promoted mechanised quarrying practices among mine owners. He said that mine owners are also using PASDEC’s machinery on rental basis on their mines in the province. Besides, quarries, the CEO said, the company has already set up an industrial estate (marble city) in Risalpur.
